<p>This is how I envisioned the final moments of the show, where I said I was waiting for them to redo the intro and close it out. Tell me what you guys think! </p><p>Finch: You are being watched... Shaw: You have a secret system, a machine... Fusco: That watches out for you, every hour of every day... Logan Pierce: We know because we help it... Joey Durban: It was designed to see acts of terror, but it sees everything, including violent crimes involving ordinary people like you and me... Harper Rose: It needed our help to act, someone with the skills to intervene... Zoey Morgan: Hunted by the authorities, we work in secret, but victim or perpetrator... The Machine/Root: If your number is up... we... will find you. </p>

<p>I felt the same. Was waiting for the final intro the entire episode. I thought they were going to go out saying it. Imagine how poetic that would have been if they went from character to character and each one of them got to say a bit of the intro lines to close us out! Of course it would be a little different, but we'd know what it is. </p>

<p>Perhaps it was when the waitress recongnized him? Maybe that spurred Samaritan to do a quick check and it just so happened to find that Harold went there with Grace.

<p>Though the previews for this one let it be known that someone wasn't going to make it, it still didn't make losing any of them any easier! I knew that The Machine would pick a voice of one who died, now that is the ultimate homage and I know Root would appreciate it. Still stunned, so back to my bed to reel from that episode a bit longer. </p>

<p>Words cannot express my anger with CBS. Even ABC gave Lost a full, final season to wrap things up!!! Personally, if I were the writers, they gave us half a season, so I'd write half of a season and let Netflix (or whoever wants it) along with the fans decide the show's fate. Still, if nobody were to be interested, I suppose half an ending overall would be just as dissapointing if not more so. Anyhow, can't wait for this amazing looking season; it already looks like it's going to be good just based on the trailer! </p><p>By the way, where is Clair? Have I passed over her replies or has she gone dark? </p>

<p>This was such a fantastic finale! It really blew my mind! From the culmination of things past to The Machine hiding in the power grid! Such a brilliant move! I loved it that they used things from other episodes in the past, such as the compression algorithm from 2piR and the briefcase! The Machine always knew it would come down to this! It just makes the show feel more coherant too when the writers use things from previous seasons even: like they have had a plan all along, though they may have not! I can't wait, bring on season 5! </p><p>I must say, I am surprised by all the Samaritan sympathizers posting comments about it on here. I mean, yes, perhaps the world does need some intervention, but killing people because they are a nuisance to society is a fine line to walk. Who is worthy enough to define who is a nuisance and who is not? Samaritan surely isn't because it'll kill people just to remain a secret or for its own experiments. I suppose when it comes to that it is better if society decides as a whole who is and isn't, which isn't always the best either, but it's why we have due process, however broken it may be. </p><p>

<p>So fiendishly clever that Samaritan's minders are basically the ones who infect it maybe. ;) That's exactly what I think will happen. Just imagine when Greer realizes that he has inadvertently infected Samaritan if he has such an opportunity. I think the virus will be implemented via the algorithms Samaritan is currently interested in. </p>

<p>For those wondering where our Machine might be, and perhaps thinking it is in the wind to be discovered, consider that we already have a very subtle hint: Where are you! </p><p>As for how I think Samaritan will be defeated, I'll just say I love a bit of irony. Now isn't that ironic? </p>

<p>Sorry, previous post was me not logged in. </p><p>My only wish is that the show would be afforded enough respect, both by the network and the writers, to allow it to "end" rather than be cancelled. So many great shows have gotten a true ending and I think that's part of what made them so great. As much as I love POI, it's because I love it that I'd rather see it end than go on eternally only to run itself into the ground and get cancelled. I, personally, would be happy with around 6 to 7 seasons as, from what I've seen and experienced, that amount seems to be perfect for a wholesome series. That's all just me though. What do you all think? (As a sidenote, I'd also like POI to continue to be renewed for the full 22-24 episode season. I just love watching throughout the year and let me just say that I think the writers do an absolutely fantastic job using that episode space) </p>

<p>I... I just... I just don't have words! What a fantastic beginning to an epic trilogy! I couldn't have thought of any better scenario, and this is only the mid season trilogy? Pffff, the season finale is going to be a bummer then because how can they do better than this, or maybe I'm just looking at this show through rose colored glasses. After all, just when you think there is nothing more epic than what they just did, BAM, they [life] find[s] a way (Jurassic Park reference)! </p><p>Ok, props to that little boy (Samaritan's avatar)! What a malevolent little child! I'm actually pretty impressed with how well he played that role, and how about that conversation?! I love that The Machine stood its ground in the face of such an adversary! It must have a card to play! I am speculating on so many things! One of them for example, is that I think Lambert might be an inside man... maybe, for The Machine. Probably not, as that is a stretch, but it would be so ironic since Greer's past has to do so much with loyalty. </p><p>Such a great ep. Can't wait until the next! </p>

<p>Sorry for the late post, but I've been grieving for Scarface. *sniffs* It still pains my heart. Why, Scarface?! Why did you have to go?! He's gotta be one of the best sidekicks ever! </p><p>I feel like his death, though, just added a whole other level of seriousness to the situation between Elias and the Brotherhood. Hence why at the end Elias was basically like, "Oh... things just got real!" I cannot wait to see what Elias is going to do to <i>Mini & the Expendables (everybody dies in the end ;D).</i> </p><p>I loved finding out more about Elias' operation, such as how he and his "brotherhood" came to be. It really explains how he can keep such a tight ship! Even though I always try and look on the bright side of a character death, I really hope Elias does not die at the end of this. He is too great an asset for <i>Finch & Flock</i> (I guess I'm just full of boy band names today). He is also an extremely awesome character all on his own and adds a level of depth to the show. </p><p><i>Mini & the Expendables (everybody dies in the end ;D)</i> now knowing about the gang, or at least targeting them could be dangerous; I have a feeling that <i>Finch & Flock</i> will be a sort of distraction for Dominic and Elias will use that opportunity to strike, perhaps at our team's weakest hour to save them. So many things to come! I'm having withdrawals from waiting for the next episode! </p><p>Long live Scarface!!! </p>

<p>Though I don't exactly agree with this theory as I think it is a little out there, who knows what the writers will do! This would have been much more suited to be posted in the SALSA thread though. I liked how you gathered the material btw. </p>

<p>I've actually speculated on this before. I mean, wouldn't it seem ordinary for police to pull camera footage from one of the cameras at a murder or shooting scene? I like to think that our Machine has kept Reese safe for all this time as it is still doing even now. Just my thoughts. </p>

<p>So, it's been a while since I've dunked my chip into some dip, and, yes... I'm still totally sticking with the SALSA (Speculative Assumptions and Liable Speculative Analysis) puns. I haven't posted a theory in some time, but now I think I have more than enough info to post my first guess at what is to come. So hold on to your butts because things are about to get spicy in here. I have a lot of different angles I'm going to cover. Suffice to say, this one is about the final turnout of season 4 as a whole. </p><p>So, let's begin with what I'm sure most of us think will happen: the battle with Samaritan comes to a climax. Hopefully our team makes it through, but how everything goes down is half the fun! I think our team will make it through, but... not unscathed. That's just coming from the logic that you can't gain something without giving something, in much the same way Carter's situation went down with HR. Now, this is not to say that they always need to kill a character in order to get rid of a villain - that would be too predictable - but just simply that I cannot see them ending an arc that has been around since the first season without some change. </p><p>For my first major prediction, I surmise that Root will die! Even if it does not happen this season, I still think that when the end comes for Samaritan, Root will be the one to go, taking it and Greer with her. This also leads into a second prediction of mine that Greer will also die at the end of the Samaritan arc. Perhaps they will keep him alive, but if he were to live, the only logical outcome would be for him to start looking for another AI all over again, and I don't think the show's writers will beat that dead horse. </p><p>Right now it seems like Root's biggest adversary is the Blond Chick, but I really only see this Blonde Chick as a proxy for Greer himself, who is a much more worthy opponent. Plus, the Greer-Root rivalry has been set up ever since they met and talked in season 3! After taking care of his God Mode counterpart, which I guess Reese or Shaw will have the honor of doing, Root will go straight for Greer. </p><p>Now I am a fan of irony, and truly, I think some of the show's writers are too! How cool and ironic would it be if they had Greer choke to death, whether by strangulation via Root or by swallowing something (a boulder wrapped in swaddling cloths perhaps? ;D), or better yet, maybe he and Root will go out in a glorious explosion much like how he used one to make the government give him the feeds out of fear and doubt! </p><p>This is all fun and good when it comes to Greer and our characters, but what about Samaritan itself? I mean, how on earth will they be able to defeat something that has branches everywhere (as in, Samaritan just doesn't have one building of servers as we found out in season 3 thanks to Root: it has 100's all over the world!)? If you look at what's been happening with the machines this season, I think the show has really been hinting at one person who will be responsible for what happens with them: our very own Harold! </p><p>But how? Well, I did say I am a fan of irony, so I can't help but think along those lines when I speculate about the show. I can only hope that the writers do, in fact, love an ironic situation as well! From what we've seen already thus far, I think Harold will destroy Samaritan with something so fitting I actually am really, really hoping they do this!!! I think he will give it a virus! One that spreads around to all of its facilities and destroys Samaritan bit by bit. That would be so ironic to me and such a perfect fit as Greer gave our Machine a virus, Harold will give Samaritan one! </p><p>Harold: "You gave my machine a virus. Well, I was smart enough to see that coming. So I'll give your machine a virus. Let's see how well it does without my help." </p><p>I think the show is already setting this up just by how Harold took such an interest in the convention sponsor in the last episode (Pretenders) and her laptop (hmm, an interesting laptop. Ring any bells of nostalgia anyone?)! A lady and her laptop that Samaritan just so happened to be interested in for her algorithms, probably to advance itself. Funny, if it does happen that Harold changes or infects the algorithmic code in some way, Samaritan will be infecting itself essentially when it adapts its own code. So much irony! </p><p>Thanks for reading as always! I hope you all enjoyed this one and I'm totally interested in hearing what you all have to say, so please feel free to comment!!! Also, do not be afraid to post your theories here, as I love to read them as well! I love some of the ones we have here already! So many different angles, it's hard to see them all, but between all of us theorizing I'm sure we could cover more ground! And remember, when you scoop just a little too much onto one chip, you can always use the exit clause: "Theories subject to change as the series goes on..." Thanks again! </p>

<p>I cannot wait to see this one, but then again, I can't wait to see any episode. Between work, school and life in general, it seems like I never have time anymore! It just so happens that I have to go to work tonight unfortunately, so this is what I've come up with: you know how I love to speculate, well, I've done much on this episode tonight so I will leave a short blurb about my thoughts in advance (and I haven't even seen it yet! Ha, ha!!!) So here's my birds eye view from what I can see through my Bird Watching binoculars: </p><p>My gosh!!! That episode was amazing!!! Another fantastic story, as always, and how about that twist! The POI himself was good, funny at times, but his acting could have perhaps been a little better. Loved Fusco and Reese on the job together, and the rest of the team played an awesome roll as well!!! Gtg, so more later! </p><p>Oh yeah, nailed it. </p>

<p>I wouldn't exactly call them "cutesy names" as they are more simply a play on words. I understand your point of view[er] (sorry, couldn't resist that pun) though. Me personally, when I like a show as much as I do POI, I don't just want to refer to myself as a viewer, cause that's what I am for every other show -- big "fan" or not. Sure it's just a show, but as a huge lover of a good story (I'm a sucker for them really) it holds a special place amongst the others, so I like to identify myself, and it, as being different and a stand out production. Like I said though, that's just me. </p><p>Also, I'm glad to be back too, though I am scarce due to time constraints, but I pop in when I can. Was so frustrated the other day: had this large post for the discussion of 405 but my browser messed up and I lost it all before I could post it! I even had some speculation in there based off of what we saw in that ep (just couldn't help myself). </p>

<p>I pretty much agree with everything you mentioned in your first post after the initial start of the thread, Guru. There is no "divide" in the fandom, it's just that small group who can't get over Carter. The TV ratings system has also always needed to be updated ever since the DVR came out; how they pull numbers today simply isn't enough to get a proper scope on any show's true standing. </p><p>What's more is that I'd like to point out that the show has never lost its episodic roots (no pun intended). Without fail, there has been a number in just about each and every single episode; some just relate more closely to the overall storyline of the show itself than others. Truly, I consider the show a sort of hybrid myself and that's part of what I love about it so much. They take the approach of, "Who says the number can't pertain to the overarching storyline?" Lately, they've been doing a lot more of that (and I'm loving it!), but honestly, if one, such as a CSI fan, were to watch the show just to see how they deal with the new number each week, they could essentially do so and not be too lost if that's all they were focused on. </p><p>Also, I do not like the terms "fandom" and "fan" either; I think it's different with each show because there's always some differentiating factor between all of them that you like about each one. For "fandom" I'd suggest something like "People of Interest" or "Bird Watchers" (though that second term probably just pertains to Finch fans, unless you think about it a little more deeply -- it'll come to you). As for "fan" I've just taken to calling us, especially the true fans around here who really understand the show, "Relevants" though some prefer "Irrelevants". Anyhow, that's just fun little stuff and my bird's eye view of the situation (pun intended). </p>

<p>Well, well, well... who woulda thought life would allow me the time to make it back here, for season 4 to /boot/ (pun intended)! I'm back for the time being, until further notice, though I may be scarce. That was the best opener since the series pilot and of course the season 2 opener to end the S1 finale's cliffhanger (but aren't all cliffhanger openers a given that they're going to be good ones?)! New lives, new roles, The Machine being so sneaky that even slenderman would be proud, Greer and Blondie each becoming Samaritan's Darth Vader, and of course, the new batcave! Still think it would be awesome though if they had Greer do the intro just once: </p><p>"You are being observed. The government actually doesn't own a secret system that spies on you every hour of ever day: I do. I should know because I stole it. I took the parts it needed to function properly and the government gave me the rest: like all of your NSA feeds so I can watch you while you sleep. I won't consider you irrelevant, just a deviant who might need to be... taken care of, and don't worry, just cause the government would send a Hershey hitman doesn't mean I would so I've hired a blonde with the skills to intervene.
