Wiki migration to the UCP

Hi everyone! I wanted to make sure I shared important information about an upcoming change happening across Fandom that will affect all its communities, this one included. Fandom is currently working on migrating all its wikis to a new Unified Community Platform (UCP for short). You can read more about this in this blog.

If you still have questions about what that all entails after reading the blog, don't hesitate to ask them here. I'll be happy to supply you with an answer or find one for you in case I don't know myself.

Feel free to also check the UCP help page for more details.

A banner can be seen at the top of the wiki right now, so the change should be happening here very soon. After the migration, you can also use this post to leave any and all feedback you may have about UCP as well, so I can relay it back to Fandom. If something happens to get broken during the migration, I’ll be here to help fix it as well.

We will see how it goes!

Redesigned Cast & Characters tab

In case you missed my blog post, please read here: Suggestion: Supporting characters tab & improved Cast & Crew list I've finished an example page of how we would like to deal with supporting characters from now on. Find it here in my sandbox and let me know what you think. Notes:

The list includes recurring characters
Characters are grouped by storyline/relationship. Billing should be ignored here. Section headlines for those groups are optional.
One-time characters get a description of their actions in the episode, along with an appropriate image. This will replace a separate article for those characters
The list will be placed on the Cast (final name TBD) tab below the main character boxes (these stay as is)
All crew info will be moved to the brand new Crew tab (Otrain's turf)
Recurring actors will be linked to as usual; one-time guests only get their IMDB link. No separate actor article.
All characters in the list work as ordinary links in this format: [[Panopticon/Cast#Novak]] produces a link to Novak's entry

If no further comments, or objections, I will start reorganizing the Cast tab for all S4 episodes so far. The other three seasons will follow later. Fee free to help out.

Suggest a Poll!

We finally have a new Poll on the main page, after the previous one had been up there for too long. Thanks to RaptorNXT for the input! Let's try to change it more frequently: Use this thread to ask POI related questions with a set of answers (usually between 4 and 6), and let other users vote by giving kudos (the little thumbs up icon in the upper right corner). The suggestion which receives the most kudos will be featured as a poll on the main page. Since we are a small community I don't expect a new poll every week, so for now let's see how many suggestions we'll get and how many kudos these receive. Note that this thread is only for collecting suggestions, and not a poll per se.

Background image bug

If any of you see the background image (of NY) smaller and in a corner of the page instead of appearing properly, it seems to be a Wikia bug. I've seen that happening in many wikis these days and I've just been told by someone that it happened here. Just letting you know, but I'm sure they'll fix it pronto. While we're at it, there is a complaint about the brick background and I'd like to know if any of you also have trouble with it as well.

In addition to our regular wiki chat (the fickle one) we also have an IRC channel now: #pediaofinterest You can join us here: http://webchat.freenode.net/ or via any IRC app you might use on your computer or phone. The whole thing is still pretty new but it seems to be more reliable and certainly better equipped for large group chats. Drop by and say hi when you get a chance!

Images for deletion

I've been checking, tagging, and deleting several hundred images today for the sake of housekeeping. Images that do not comply with our site rules will be deleted eventually, but for now they are listed in Candidates for Deletion. Please take a look at the Category and claim any image that you wish not to be deleted, otherwise they will be deleted after one week. Note that the Person of Interest wiki is not a photo collection site. All uploaded images should be used in articles. Unused images will be deleted without further comment. I've been running a script to batch delete unused images which is why you might find a blank Recent Activity feed today. This is completely normal since file deletions do not show up in that feed. Samaritan - Beta Design!

As you probably have noticed, there are huge changes around here... Welcome to our new Samaritan Beta Design! It might take a while to get used to it, but we just couldn't resist the possibility of doing something interesting related with Samaritan, especially after the latest episode, so here it is. This is not a permanent change and we should return to our main design after a while. If you see anything that needs fixing (such as fonts that can't be read with the new design) please warn us about it so that we can work on it - the beta really means beta, despite being a wink to the show. I already adapted many templates to make them look good with Samaritan (such as the cast and crew templates. I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed doing it!

Cast and Crew Infoboxes Finished

Hey guys Just wanted to let you know that I've finished the Castlist template infoboxes for all the episode Cast and Crew pages. We just need pictures for, lets see... No Good Deed, Firewall, Triggerman (which for some reason has a block on it's Cast and Crew page at the moment), Bury the Lede, The High Road, Critical, Til Death, C.O.D, Shadow Box, 2πR, Prisoner's Dilemma, Dead Reckoning, One Percent, Booked Solid, Relevance, Proteus, All In, Trojan Horse, In Extremis, and Zero Day. Wilem7 has been doing a wonderful job of uploading HD pictures, and just has 2 more to go for season 1. We'll leave him to that (keep up the good work, buddy!) as we get onto other matters while still helping. Thank you all for your help and hard work on these new changes. The wiki is growing and has come a long way, and I'm really happy with what it has become. Keep it up, guys! Thanks, TJ

Episodes locked for editing

Is there any information available about the new practice of locking the episodes for editing prior to broadcast? It was my understanding that it was a one-time thing when last week's episode was previewed early but last night's episode remains locked almost 12 hours later. It's possible the admins are unaware it's locked as they are currently editing the page but I wanted to ask. Thanks.

Dear relevants/irrelevants (whatever you prefer to be called), I don't know if you have noticed, but today we have reached the number of 800 articles! I'm very happy that we accomplished it, we're doing such a great job and I'm just glad to be a part of it. Kudos to everyone and let's keep up the good work. -P

The Main Page

<figcaption> Each featured page (episode, quote, article, season list, links) should have a black background/white border like the tracked conversation about HR as shown above. </figcaption></figure>Hey guys, Here's a little proposal to improve the look of the main page of the wiki. It looks cool already, but with the recent addition of the wiki's Twitter page, I thought maybe we could have the main page stylized like The Machine. Along the top, there will be icon links for the CBS Person of Interest website, our Twitter Page, and a link to the Wikia main page. These icons will basically be the logos for each site surrounded by a Machine box. Below will be the featured page, and its border should look like one of the information boxes displayed by the Machine when it's monitoring a conversation. Each featured page alongside it (e.g. the latest episode, featured article, quote, characters, etc.) should be put in a border similar to one of the information boxes above (like the Fusco one) to give the page the appearance of a tracked conversation/set of linked information (I call that the Machine's "Spider Web of Info"). The featured quote would probably look like the audio intercept box where it tracks the conversation (since it's only text) and each link for a particular season should be surrounded by a white border around a black background. As for the main characters, their images will be inside Machine information boxes, and their image itself should be bordered by a square (yellow for Reese, Finch and Shaw, white for Carter and Fusco, and Yellow/Black "Analog Interface" for Root). More detailed examples are coming soon, but so far, what do you guys think?

Proposition: Wiki Achievements

Hey guys I've seen this on a couple other wikis too, but I thought it would be cool if we could have achievements on our user pages for making a certain number of edits, adding photos/videos, posting a chat thread, etc. It would be a fun little boost of motivation for people to contribute more to the wiki and have it pay off. I'm saying this because I've seen people with thousands of edits, and I make at least 40-50 a day. For all the hard work that people put into helping the wiki, I thought the little achievements could be a fun addition to it. What do you guys think? I'll make a list soon of achievements I think are cool. Thanks, - TJlive800

Proposition

I would like to propose allowing comments to be enabled on this wiki. Pro's: Comments allow better interaction between users. It also helps more people contribute to the wiki. Also, it allows quick questions to be answered that are to miniscule to bring to the forum. Con's: The only major consequence is user's comments being considered as trolling, vandalism, etc... But all wikis must deal with this. It is fairly easy to punish trollers/vandals and remove their comments. I sincerly hope we will enable them. But I shall let you decide. JosephHawk

The unit know as The Activity or ISA which has now changed to " DCS" Defense Clandestine Services" back in the day the " Activity" as we all called was indeed a very secretive and covert unit working all over the world, including within US borders against orders. Grand Eagle used SAP= Special Access Program and SCI= Sessitive Acess Information Program. Some have asked how did ISA recurit, well we recrutied from Military all branches, active duty, reserves and retired. We recurited at Universities, Companies such as AT&T, Boeing, Dpeartment of State, J.W. Marriott , Oil Companies etc. not all were needed for Combat operations many did NOT know they were working for a secret us Claendsine unit, they did not all know they were being used as NOC's or NGO's. Many behing the scenes you may never know who or what you did both inside USA and all over the world. When the Kill Unit was activited they had very focused orders on who and when to Kill. Kidnappings and later those captured just vannished, never to be found or heard from again. Due to some caught in circumstances that became know mostly do to greed and some of our special woman used as comfort for the enemy from WHCA in Colombia, to Laos, Spain, USA, Mt. Graham in Nevada which many thougth they were still in the middle east once intell was gained they were made to vanish. The key to recurtitng civilians was to never allow them to know everything they needed to know in case of a leak then they would vanish. Now known as the new ISA is DCS is alive and well and has assets from all intellgience agencies and Law Enforcement groups from Federal, State and Local agencies including the judical branch. Plan was to have a LIC unit to move within hours at any place is the world and to create conflict when needed for substantiate a mission. COVERT Op's is back and in business Golbal and within USA.
