Carlos was a former Lancero, Columbian paramilitary, who worked as a hitman for Raphael Hernandez's cartel.
Character Background[]
In order to silence Owen Matthews and his knowledge of the cartel's activities, Raphael Hernandez sent Carlos and his partner to assassinate Owen on a flight to Rome with orders to crash the whole plane and kill everyone on it if necessary.
Carlos went undercover as a flight attendant, using his job to drug the two US Marshals guarding Owen and take their weapons, but otherwise stayed in the background as the other Lancero and various assassins tried and failed to kill Owen due to the intervention of John Reese.
As the plane neared landing, Carlos made his move, donning a parachute, shooting the captain and knocking out the pilot before trying to crash the plane, putting 137 lives at risk. However, Harold Finch was able to hack into Raphael's email and discover his orders to the two Lanceros. With all of the passengers having checked out, Reese realized that Carlos was the second assassin and broke into the cockpit to stop Carlos. The two men engaged in a fight ending with Reese knocking Carlos out with a fire extinguisher. Finch was able to hack into the flight management system and use a flight controller to bring the plane to a safe if bumpy landing.
Following the landing, Carlos was presumably arrested for his crimes.
