Charles Harris is a freelance British journalist who was doing a story on Serbian Colonel Rudko Petrovic.

Character History[]

Harris worked as a freelance journalist with a number of respected publications beginning in 1984. Harris' work took him around the world from Ireland, to Yugoslavia, to Japan. His strong opinions and stories on world leaders made Harris persona non grata in half a dozen countries.

Harris wrote a series of articles on Serbian Colonel Rudko Petrovic who was running for Deputy Prime Minister, all but accusing the colonel of committing war crimes during the Kosovo War. Harris found a woman named Sanja Kadjevic who directed him to Mira Dobrica whose family had been murdered on Petrovic's orders and held the key to exposing him. Two weeks later, Sanja was murdered by Petrovic's men.

Harris managed to track Mira to New York City where she was working as a maid at the Hotel Coronet and attempted to convince her to come forward. However, Harris was followed by a squad of hitmen sent by Petrovic who sought to silence both Harris and Mira. After Mira's name came up as a person of interest, she and Harris were investigated by Harold Finch and John Reese. Finch was able to hack Harris' computer and find his files on Petrovic and Mira, but the hitmen moved on Mira and Harris, killing the latter while Reese saved Mira.

When Reese and Mira reached Harris' room, his body had been removed, but a bloodstain remained on the wall. Two of the hitmen stuffed Harris' body into a large trunk and tried to dispose of it, but Detective Lionel Fusco subdued them and recovered Harris' body. Reese was able to recover the recording Harris made of Sanja which, along with Mira's testimony, resulted in Petrovic being prosecuted for war crimes as well as for Harris' murder.
