She also had various other cases going on, including the drive-by shooting of a teenager named Ronnie Middleton, as well as Edward Kovach, an abusive husband whose wife refused to testify. All of these cases contained potential threats against her, and Reese was forced to deal with some of them without revealing himself to her. Carter successfully led an assault on Hector Alvarez's shop after Reese anonymously told her about his arms dealing operation. Carter then went to pay her CI, Bottlecap, who then attempted to kill her because he was forced to by Elias. Reese saved her life and told her she was never alone, and she was grateful to him ever since.
