Sarah Jennings is an abused woman on the run from her husband, Brad Jennings. Sarah was living in New York under the alias Karen Garner and working as a waitress.
As Reese's ex-girlfriend Jessica Arndt was also killed by her abusive husband, Finch tries to keep him away from the case, but Reese finds out about it.
Using his authority as a U.S. Marshal, Brad has her alias entered into the law enforcement system as a fugitive, which he employs to find her. Brad tracks Sarah to New York and captures her. However, Reese rescues Sarah and gives her money and a new ID to start a new life, telling her that she is free and that her husband will never hurt her again.
