Title[]

If anyone feels like including this - the episode titel 'Wolf and Cub' happens to be very similar to the name of a famous and somewhat important comic series called 'Lone Wolf and Cub'. The comic tells the story of a ronin and the kid he lugs around ('https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lone_Wolf_and_Cub'). The black and white style of the series is similar to the drawings seen in the episode. To me the episode titel and content (talk of Ronin, Sun Tzu....) is an obvious connection. —Preceding unsigned comment added by User: 89.14.94.108‎ (talkcontribs)

Well, if we could establish a direct connection between the comic and the show, that might be a good addition. As it is, it appears to be coincidence. These writers don't seem to draw from comics to any great degree, and the ronin legend of the Wolf and Cub has been retold too many times for us to be sure this particular comic series was something the writers might have used. But your suggestion is appreciated! --LeverageGuru (talk) 20:17, December 20, 2014 (UTC)
The "Lone Wolf and Cub" series was a relatively famous series of samurai films in the 1970s.  They're about a Ronin and his son, as they search for vengeance against the people who killed his master and the wife/mother of the two main characters.  I thought there were many parallels between this episode and the movies and my mind went straight there at the title of the episode and stayed there through the storyline and dialogue.   I definitely think it's worth a mention on this page, as the writers do draw from older films quite a bit.  I had no idea there was a comic series of the name, I was only familiar with the movies.  69.129.234.126 15:01, January 20, 2015 (UTC)
Again, I think you make a perfectly valid comparison, but you don't know whether its one the writers made. There are all manner of variations on the ronin concept out there, just as the wolf and cub concept isn't that unusual. You could try to put it in with qualified language and see how it goes. --LeverageGuru (talk) 17:38, January 20, 2015 (UTC)
The fact that the episode centers around a comic book shop just might be a big hint that the Lone Wolf & Cub comics are meant. Lone Wolf & Cub is one of the few comic book series that I knew about before a family member got interested in them, and the trilogy is still in print 20+ years after its original publication.--Sialia (talk) 21:01, January 22, 2015 (UTC)
That's an interesting point. As I said above, the IP editor is invited to take a stab at adding their ideas (in qualified language) to the article, and let's see how it works out. I'm more sold on the idea that might have been the writers' intent than when this discussion started. --LeverageGuru (talk) 21:10, January 22, 2015 (UTC)
